Intro to Camping

The NCSS Intro to Camping Course will provide the basic fundamentals of camping for beginners in a hands on experience. This course will help participants identify their preferred style of camping and prepair them to go out and start enjoying the great outdoors. Participants will learn what to look for in gear selection on any budget, tips on preparing and choosing a camp location, how to maximize confort and safety, tips and skills on staying warm and dry, camp fire construction, cooking methods and fun camping activities. The course will begian at Noon on Saturday, Septmeber 2nd and conclude that evening at 6:00 PM. Following the course, NCSS will invite participants to join us around the campfire for a provided meal and a campfire story competition complete with prizes and s'mores.  For those who want to try their new skills immediatly, participants are welcome to camp on site at NCSS untl noon on Sunday, September 3rd. Bring your own gear or choose one of the many styles of tents NCSS will have set up for demonstration purposes.
