NCSS and Duckhorn Outdoors 24 hr. Wilderness Survival Course

NCSS/Duckhorn 24 Hr. Wilderness Survival Course Curriculum:

• Primitive Fire Making - to include flint and steel, ferro rod, and friction fires

• Water Purification Techniques - primitive and modern techniques

• Shelter Building - 3 minute emergency tarp shelter

• Wilderness Safety - prevention and reaction techniques

• Fun challenges and prizes!

On-site camping available for participants.

What to bring:

Participants are encouraged to bring the following items:

·  Knife (pocket-knife or fixed blade suitable for wood carving)

·  Weather and outdoor appropriate clothing

·  Bug spray

·  Sunscreen

·  Hat

·  Water Bottle

·  Snacks

·  Small note pad and pen/pencil

·  Single wall, large metal cup or small pan for boiling water

·  Food and drinks

Camping Materials:

Participants will be responsible for their own camping gear, however NCSS has many extras that can be loaned out with advance notice. 

Camping items to consider:

·  Tent or hammock & tarp

·  Sleeping bag

·  Sleeping pad or air mattress

·  Pillow

·  Portable camping chair

·  Toiletries/Medications

·  Camping stove

·  Plates/bowels

·  Eating utensils

·  Drinking cup

·  Food and drinks

·  Wet naps/hand sanitizer
